Route Rationale
Love for Local tour experience is a tour designed to help create a bond between participants, locals and Horses ! The tour is a one day experience accommodated by a night stay at a ranch. The activities consist of both emotional and physical connection. A local dining experience begins and ends the tour, while several physical activities tailor the core of the tour. The Tour’s meeting point starts within downtown Kamloops after a filling breakfast at the local Hello Toast.
We then set off On a 17 minute drive to the Kamloops Riding Therapeutic Association. After a lovely emotional session with their horses, we then head to Kamloops Hidden Gem Farms. Just 30 minutes away, Kamloops Hidden Gem Farms will teach participants how to horseback ride. Participants will then drive a scenic route to get to Campbell Hill Guest Ranch. The ranch will accommodate the guests with outdoor activities, dinner and an overnight stay in a cabin. The next day, the tour’s ending point is an optional drive to Kamloops’ Cora brunch experience.

They do funky style breakfast and offer lunch also. Hello Toast breakfast is run by good friends and family. They open 7 days a week and serve both sweet and savory for all day breakfast. Moreover, they also have a home created menu and “home cooked lunch plates” (Hello Toast, n.d.). These are some examples of the menus they served for breakfast and lunch: “ Traditional, Green eggs & ham, Soups, Blissful Hippy, South West Grill Cheese” (Hello Toast, n.d.)., etc. They guarantee good service and ensure that all customers have a good time, eat delicious foods, and get the good service from staff. Customers who visit the restaurant can walk around downtown and indulge with Kamloops’ atmosphere either before or after the meal.

Kamloops therapeutic riding association (KTRA) is located in Kamloops, British Columbia. This organization provides therapeutic horseback riding which has many benefits such as improvement of self-esteem, concentration and socialization skills (Kamloops Therapeutic Riding Association, n.d.). Horses are friendly animals, and this is the perfect place to create a connection with them. Experiences are created by developing connections with horses in a beautiful environment. Horseback riding is an incredible experience and for this it is important to have a connection with the horse, it is therapeutic and part of a process for the consumer. KTRA has been providing their services for thirty years now and they are very good at it. It is a family friendly place where consumers can enjoy with their families and have a great time. KTRA has riding arenas, a barn, paddocks, 10-acre fields, river trails and beach rides. Horses are free 24/7 and they also have goats in their barns. There are instructors well prepared which take all the safety measures for this activity that will help with the therapeutic sessions and create that connection with horses and yourself.

Hidden Gems Farm is a multi-faceted ranch on a 5.5 acre of land located at Cherry Creek, it is about 10 minutes from the west of Kamloops. Sean and Brigitte are the owners of the Farm. It is a best place for people to sit back and relax and enjoy the sound of Cherry Creek delicately streaming over the property, sit underneath the shade of a major willow tree and watch the horses discreetly grazing in the fields. They offer many services that include Farm Fresh eggs, Hauling, Horse boarding, Horse Training, and coaching, Horse Leasing.
Trainer
Brigitte Mitchell was the trainer in the farm, as she has over 20 years of experience in Riding. Dressage, Hunter-jumper, western pleasure, western dressage, liberty was her speciality.
Horse Training and Coaching
The Farm offers 45 minutes of training in English Riding lessons, especially in Dressage, Western lessons are accessible as well. They endeavour on keeping the group little and family cordial to offer the best insight to the students in a protected and professional environment. Every student attending the Training was encouraged to have their own well-fitting Riding Helmet and the Pair of Boots with one to one-and-half inch heels. They also offer horses for lease. It is a wonderful place to learn riding and to hangout in the beautiful farm.
